Job Hunting Tips
This was one dreaded question is constantly got during my 100+ calls with job seekers.
How do you stay motivated during the job search process?
The job search, we have established is not the most mentally healthy place to be in. It is full of rejections, cold shoulders and anxiety.
And staying motivated can be the difference between the dream job and appearing burnt out in an interview.
My secret lies in 2 words - Energy Management
I divided my daily tasks into the ones that give me energy and the ones that take away.
The company research, finding connections, interview prep, resume review all drained energy.
Talking to the few people who would respond was my biggest source of energy because those calls usually used to be filled with positivity.
Apart from that, I used to meditate regularly, go on hikes, spend some alone time in parks. You can also try other creative outlets as well.
The weekends were exclusively reserved for battery recharging. I would not apply to jobs or do anything job search related. Any thoughts/ideas I got, would go into my to do for Monday.
I would still continue to talk to my friends, go out on hikes, take walks in the sun everyday.
Society equates lack of a job with failure. And that is simply not ture. We need to realise that it is just a phase.
It is important to still continue to live through the process and not go into a shell.
